Bayley continued to improve and impress on Day Three of the 2016 Milton International Challenge!
The gruelling 4K Individual Pursuit saw Bayley qualify with the 3rd best time, which incredibly was a Personal Best of 5 seconds over his time a week previous, at the Canadian Championships! It is worth noting that Bayley does not have a power meter on his track bike, and has done less than a handful of 4K IP’s, EVER. He has had to learn what his limits are, from feel, and it appears he is still discovering what he is capable of!
In the Bronze Medal pursuit, Bayley was up against powerhouse and fellow Canadian, Dylan Davies. He started conservatively, steadily getting up to speed and staying, consistently on a set schedule, lap after lap. Bayley managed to knock another 2 seconds off his PB time, winning the Bronze Medal (and even set the second best time of the finals)! Canadian teammate, Derek Gee, earned Silver, Ryo Chikatani (Japan) Gold.
The final event of the 2016 Milton International Challenge was the 60 lap Scratch Race. Fast and furious from the start, the pace was driven again by Dylan Davies, throughout the race. Ten cyclists managed to lap the field, and then the final sprint came down to 4 of those riders fighting for podium spots. Unfortunate timing had the sprint come right up on some lapped riders, which was not ideal. Ultimately, Zach Kovalcik (USA) took the Gold, Andy Brown (UK) the Silver, Dylan Davies (CAN) the Bronze, and Bayley was right in there for another amazing 4th place finish!
