World Class Track Cyclists, from 11 different Nations, made for an exciting 3 days of racing at the Milton International Challenge! Somehow, having finished Elite Nationals only two days prior, Bayley just continued to get stronger and better with every race…
The first day started off with the Kilo Time Trial, where Bayley had enough power to pedal to another Bronze Medal! He was in good company on the podium, with Finland’s Mika Simola taking silver, and Jonathan Mitchell, a sprinter from the UK, taking Gold.
Bayley also rode a great Elimination Race, just missing the podium after a close elimination by a strong Japanese National Team rider. Bayley would have to settle for 4th, Ryo Chikatani (Japan) taking 3rd, USA National rider Zach Kovalcik 2nd, and Canadian teammate, Aidan Caves, taking the win.
Day Two of the MIC ended with a very exciting Points Race where Canadian teammate, Jay Lamoureux, took the lead early and held onto it, for a convincing win! Other Canadian riders were also active and strong, in this impressive international field, and the remaining placings were ultimately determined by the final sprint. Japanese rider, Ryo Chikatani, was sitting in 4th place before the last sprint, when he attacked Bayley and American rider, Zach Kovalcik. By beating them on the final sprint, Chikatani earned enough points to move himself up to 2nd place, bumping Kovalcik to 3rd, and Bayley to 4th (again!).
